Sally Field Reveals the Worst On-Screen Kiss of Her Career – And It’s Not Who You’d Expect
Sally Field has been a beloved name in Hollywood for decades. At 76, she’s starred in countless classics, from Forrest Gump to Steel Magnolias, and has given audiences some unforgettable performances. But even with all the romance and drama on screen, not every moment was as dreamy as it appeared — especially when it came to kissing scenes.
During a fun and candid moment on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Sally was asked to name her least favorite on-screen kiss. She hesitated at first, clearly not wanting to throw anyone under the bus. But after a little encouragement from Cohen, she finally shared the name — and it shocked just about everyone.
“It was Burt Reynolds,” she said with a smile, adding, “I know, surprising, right?”
Fans were stunned. Not only were Sally and Burt co-stars in Smokey and the Bandit, but they also dated in real life for about five years. So what went wrong?
Sally explained that the kiss just didn’t work for her — and that Reynolds, while charming and handsome, wasn’t exactly great at on-screen smooches. “There was a lot of drooling,” she laughed, “and it just wasn’t something he really did for me.”
Even though they had a passionate relationship at the time, Sally later shared that things weren’t as perfect as they seemed. In interviews over the years, she’s admitted that their romance was complicated and, in the long run, not healthy for her.
In fact, before Reynolds passed away in 2018, he expressed regret in his memoir about how things ended with Sally. But by then, she had long moved on and chosen not to keep in touch. “He wasn’t someone I could be around,” she told Variety. “He just wasn’t good for me.”
Despite the ups and downs of her personal life, Sally Field remains one of the most talented and respected actresses of our time. From her emotional role in Steel Magnolias to her heartwarming performance in Mrs. Doubtfire, she’s made a lasting impact on generations of viewers.
Even today, Sally continues to act and impress audiences, proving that talent, honesty, and staying true to yourself will always stand the test of time.
