My Giant Baby Weighs 23 Pounds — And People Accuse Me of Being a Bad Mom 😢

When 21-year-old mom Maci Mugele shared a sweet video of her baby boy, Gunner, she never imagined it would spark so much controversy online. Instead of admiration, her post was flooded with harsh comments and wild accusations — all because her 4-month-old son weighs an impressive 23 pounds.
“OMG, poor baby,” one person wrote. Another asked if it was “even normal” for a child to be that big. Some even went as far as to accuse her of mistreating her baby — words that no mother should ever have to read.
Maci, from Oklahoma, simply wanted to share her joy. Gunner, born on February 19, has always been big for his age. At just 4 months old, he measures over two feet tall and wears toddler-sized clothes. “He’s healthy, strong, and full of life,” Maci explained. “Every check-up shows he’s perfectly fine. He’s just a big, happy baby.”
But social media wasn’t kind. Her video, viewed nearly 20 million times, drew mixed reactions — some people found her baby adorable, while others questioned his size with cruel remarks and jokes.
Despite the negativity, Maci has chosen kindness over anger. “I know my son,” she said calmly. “He’s thriving, he’s loved, and that’s all that matters. People online can be mean, but they don’t see the full story.”
Experts remind parents that every baby grows differently. Some gain weight quickly early on, while others grow gradually. What truly matters is overall health, not comparison.
For Maci, the experience has been a tough but powerful reminder that parenthood in the age of social media isn’t easy. “Moms already doubt themselves enough,” she said. “The last thing we need is strangers telling us how to raise our children.”
Gunner, her “chunky little miracle,” continues to smile through it all — blissfully unaware that he’s become a viral sensation simply for being his adorable, oversized self. 💛
