Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe

Chicken Cordon Bleu – Crispy Outside, Creamy Cheese and Ham Inside, A Classic Worth Every Bite!

Growing up, this dish always felt like something fancy reserved for restaurants or special dinners. But once I learned how easy it is to make at home—with that golden, crunchy crust and the melty ham and cheese surprise inside—it quickly became a favorite I love serving any night of the week!

Ingredients:

  1. 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  2. 4 slices deli ham
  3. 4 slices Swiss or provolone cheese
  4. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  5. 2 eggs, beaten
  6. 1 cup breadcrumbs
  7. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  8. Salt and pepper to taste
  9. 2 tablespoons butter
  10. 1 tablespoon olive oil

Creamy Dijon Sauce (optional but amazing):
– 2 tablespoons butter
– 2 tablespoons flour
– 1 cup milk
– 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
– 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
– Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Pound chicken breasts flat between plastic wrap until about 1/2-inch thick.
  3. Lay 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of cheese on each chicken breast. Roll tightly and secure with toothpicks.
  4. Season flour with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Dredge each roll in flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat in breadcrumbs.
  5. In a skillet, heat butter and oil over medium heat. Sear each chicken roll until golden on all sides.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish and bake for 25–30 minutes until cooked through.
  7. For the sauce, melt butter in a small saucepan, whisk in flour, cook 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thickened. Stir in mustard, Parmesan, salt, and pepper.
  8. Slice chicken, drizzle with warm sauce, and serve.
